Hi, I'm Audrey. I started sweet poppy & co. after having my first daughter, Ella. I wanted to create bows and clips for her to match her everyday outfits and even for special occasions. I decided to expand my passion for creating and decided on the name "sweet poppy & co." The name came from my grandfather, Don. We call him Poppy and what could be a better way to honor the sweetest man I know than naming my business after him. Though he might not be as creative as my grandmother, Imogene (who has passed away), she loved to sew and make many clothing items I wore as a child as well as many handmade halloween costumes, which I still have and cherish. My Mammy would have loved to know I named a business after a very special man.
Fast forward 2 years and I decided to carry much more than my own handmade items. I decided to expand to also carry my favorite baby essentials. From silicone bibs, spoons, teething toys, our handmade pacifier clips, clothing and even moccasins.
In May of 2021 we welcomed our second daughter. We didnt know the gender until she arrived early morning. Once on the mother & baby floor the nurses yet again asked us if we had a name. We looked at this sweet little baby and again thought we needed to honor this man. Poppy Elaine had a name when she was 2 hours old.
August of 2021, we started carrying our handmade and handpicked items at a store in Rockford, IL called Midwest Rustic. Located at 218 E. State St. Rockford, IL 61108. Its the perfect location and exactly what we were looking for.
We can't wait to see what this amazing journey has in store for us next.
